NFL Power Rankings - Week 9
I made a decision. I refuse to try and rank the worst teams in the league and I also refuse to pick them unless I'm receiving over 2 TD's. There is no point into putting effort into analyzing them. They are just plain awful and when they play each other the NFL should issue and apology. And just in case you try and read something into the order I put them in, notice they're in alphabetical order. The only thing I will say about any of them is that Cribbs should get 30 touches a game for Cleveland. He's the only positive thing about this list right now.
Teams I Refuse to Rank
Cleveland Browns (1-7)
Detroit Lions (1-7)
Kansas City Chiefs (1-7)
Oakland Raiders (2-6)
St. Louis Rams (1-7)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-7)
Washington Redskins (2-6)
Glad that's over with, not that the next 10-15 teams are all that great either.
25. Tennessee Titans (1-6)
I don't necessarily think Vince Young is a great QB seeing as how he can't throw, but he sure has energized this team and if that means a solid running game and defense then this is a solid team all of a sudden.
24. Seattle Seahawks (2-6)
They're not in the Teams I Refuse to Rank because I feel bad for them as half their team is injured.
23. Buffalo Bills (3-5)
They can be frisky at times but it's a team a long way from being consistently decent.
22. Carolina Panthers (3-4)
Well I didn't see that coming. One of the toughest teams to figure out with all of the talent and lack of production thus far. If last week is a sign of things to come then they might sneak into the list of Wildcard contenders by season's end. Or they could finish 6-10. Who knows?
21. San Francisco 49ers (3-4)
I think that was Indianapolis coming out flat and not the Niners playing well. A .500 finish is likely in their putrid division though. Stay away when they play good teams.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4)
Unless you own MJD on your fantasy team, you're not watching them play.
19. New York Jets (4-4)
Um, maybe they're not good.
18. Chicago Bears (4-3)
If it's possible to look bad beating a team by more than 3 TD's then the Bears did it. I really don't like this team.
17. Miami Dolphins (3-4)
If you don't gameplan right for them, they'll burn you. Stop their running game and they're cooked.
16. Arizona Cardinals (4-3)
I'm not even going to try and analyze them. They can play with anyone and lose to anyone. #16 is a perfect spot for them.
15. San Diego Chargers (4-3)
An actual test coming up this week in NY. I say they pass it.
14. Houston Texans (5-3)
Sneaking into the playoff picture. They could sneak right back out after playing in Indy this week though.
13. New York Giants (5-3)
They have no secondary and Eli is looking like he could play QB for the Browns.
12. Atlanta Falcons (4-3)
Not a bad showing in New Orleans. I'd like to see more poise out of Matt Ryan and less of announcers calling him, "Matty."
11. Dallas Cowboys (5-2)
A lot of turmoil for a team that's 5-2. But it's the Cowboys, do you expect any different?
10. Green Bay Packers (4-3)
I don't like the way everybody says that Aaron Rodgers needs to get rid of the ball. These guys are taught to hang in when they're in the pocket. How about placing some blame on the offensive line? Fortunately they have a nice vacation in Tampa this week.
9. Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
Now that was a statement game. I still don't understand how they lost to the Raiders. Neither does a third of my survivor pool.
8. Baltimore Ravens (4-3)
I see a march coming on.
7. Cincinnati Bengals (5-2)
Big test this week. Let's see if that first win over the Ravens was a fluke.
6. Denver Broncos (6-1)
A tough team to try and rebound against with Pittsburgh. McDaniels is a great coach, but I'm not sure the offense has what it takes to beat a Pittsburgh team playing with a healthy defense.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2)
Their defense should be sporting some swag with Polamalu coming back.
4. Minnesota Vikings (7-1)
Apparently it's not cold yet because Favre is still playing well. Can somebody in a city where it's not 75 degrees in November tell me when the seasons are changing? Thanks.
3. New England Patriots (5-2)
Quietly stomped some teams going into their bye week.
2. New Orleans Saints (7-0)
Can anybody outscore them?
1. Indianapolis Colts (7-0)
Ugly? Yes. But ho hum, they're 7 and 0.
